World's biggest freshwater fish, a 660-pound stingray, caught in Cambodia

A stingray that weighed in at 661 pounds and took around a dozen men to haul to shore was caught in the Mekong River in Cambodia. Researchers say it’s the world’s biggest freshwater fish ever recorded.

Named Boramy -- meaning"full moon" in the Khmer language -- because of her bulbous shape, the four-meter female was released back into the river after being electronically tagged to allow scientists to monitor her movement and behavior.Cambodian and American scientists and officials measure the giant freshwater stingray on June 14 in the northeastern province of Stung Treng, Cambodia.

"Boramy was netted last week off Koh Preah, an island along the northern Cambodian stretch of the river.
