Kane Tanaka, a Japanese woman who was certified as the world’s oldest person, passed away last Tuesday at 119 years old.

The news marks the end of a long and fruitful life for Tanaka, who was the seventh born out of nine siblings and got married at the age of 19,

The sensational senior also took precautions to preserve her health during the coronavirus pandemic. For example, Tanaka had been selected as a torchbearer at the postponed 2020 Tokyo Olympics this past summer but pulled out due to the surge of COVID-19 cases in Japan at the time.Mourners have since flooded social media with tributes to Tanaka.

In it, they noted that the Japanese national was the “second oldest person ever recorded, behind only Jeanne Calment who lived to the age of 122.”
