On Monday night, the council passed a special resolution recognizing June as Pride Month. Special resolutions aren't legally binding, they're more symbolic. The council has passed a similar resolution every June for a few years now. Councilor Ali Brown drafted this year's version. There are now four councilors that identify as LGBTQ+. That is something that matters, according to Indy Pride Executive Director Shelly Snider.
She also said that resolutions, even symbolic ones, can make a difference in the lives of young people across the city.
