Thank you for the wonderfully enlightening commentary by Dr. Timothy C. Hlavinka.This very informative commentary should be required reading for all educators, state leaders and especially Gov. Greg Abbott.
About 20 years ago I read the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel “Middlesex,” by Jeffrey Eugenides, about a teenager going through life trying to understand why she felt her body wasn’t right. Her doctor at birth performed realignment surgery due to the presence of both sex organs; however, the doctor unknowingly removed the wrong one. As Hlavinka states, our brains are where our gender identification lies.
I would suggest this book to anyone who wishes to learn about this condition that affects many young people today. We all need to get to know people, understand them and not judge them. I believe the Bible instructs us to do so — “judge not lest you be judged.”
