In a new Vogue 'Life in Looks' video, Zendaya explains why her now viral 1995 Mugler robot look worn to the 'Dune: Part Two' premiere in London almost didn't happen.
When she first thought of the idea, she was fully committed to making it happen, even though her stylist, Law Roach, wasn’t convinced. "He was like, 'Are you being serious? Don't play with me! Don't get me started on something and make me do this, and you're going to chicken out at the last minute and be too scared to wear it,” Zendaya recalled.
The duo managed to get their hands on the archival design, one of the men who made the suit in the ‘90s even attended the fitting and the armor “fit like a glove." The whole thing seemed “meant to be,” Zendaya said.Leading up to the big reveal though, Zendaya started to think it was a “bad idea.” And she did face some complications when she finally hit the carpet.
“Immediately after wearing it for 10 minutes or less than that, I got really lightheaded. The metal conducts and holds onto heat very quickly and traps it in. I’m wearing a complete bodysuit. There’s a barrier so you already have a layer of material on your skin,” Zendaya explained. She added: “But I put it on, made it out there and did it.”
