Oakland fire crews are on scene after a collision between an Amtrak train and an excavator left two people injured in the area of 50th Avenue and East 8th Street.
Posts on the Citizen app said that the train had crashed into a tractor that was on the tracks, overturning the vehicle. The driver reportedly had to be extracted from the tractor. The train that hit the tractor was later confirmed to be an Amtrak train.
A second person who was on the train was also injured. It was unclear whether the person was a passenger or a worker on the train, Hunt said.
