A Bartlett man has been charged by the Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office in connection with the stabbing Monday of two people outside an Elgin bar.

Jason M. Ostrego, 28, of the 600 block of White Oak Lane, faces one count of armed violence and four counts of aggravated battery for causing great bodily harm and using a deadly weapon. All of the charges are felonies. The incident took place after Ostrego allegedly got into an argument with another patron at a bar in the 1000 block of North Liberty Street, Elgin, according to a state’s attorney’s office report. After being told to leave the business, Ostrego went outside and allegedly stabbed one person in the chest and another in the face with a pocket knife, the report said.Ostrego’s bail was set at $200,000 Wednesday, and his next court appearance is scheduled for Feb. 9.

The case remains under investigation. Anyone with additional information is asked to call the Elgin Police Department at 847-289-2600.
