Carvana has run into legal and financial roadblocks that cast uncertainty on its plans to build a glass tower used car sales building in Skokie.
After Carvana, which sells used cars in glass tower buildings, was given clearance to build on this site near Harms Woods after a controversial Skokie Village Board vote in February, the company's recent legal and financial troubles may delay or prevent it from building.
“The Village will await any notification that the matters have been resolved by the State of Illinois and only then determine if construction can be undertaken.”That letter comes only days after the Illinois Secretary of State Police issued a temporary suspension order, suspending Carvana’s dealer’s license in Illinois for misuse of issuing out-of-state temporary registration permits and for failing to transfer titles, said Henry Haupt, press secretary with the Illinois Secretary of State.
