First responders, active-duty military and veterans can register by calling event sponsor Milestone Home Service Co., at 469-442-9397 or filling out an online formStarting at 6 a.m., participants will climb 2,071 steps, equivalent to the 110 stories of the World Trade Center’s twin towers. Milestone, which is offering employees paid time off to participate in the climb, is contributing $50 to the Guns & Hoses Foundation of North Texas for each participant.
Choctaw Stadium hosted the event last year, with about 65 entries, according to a statement from Milestone. Between 150 and 250 are expected this year, and a $10,000 donation is guaranteed. “We feel it is important to support the people that gave so much of themselves to protecting others,” Milestone co-founder Gus Antos said in a prepared statement. “And what better way to do this than through bringing attention to and supporting the charities whose mission it is to help and support first responders.”
