Will you go to the arts festival this weekend?

Janet Echelman, the artist who designed it, told ABC 6's Mike McCarthy on Friday that it was inspired by the city's history with electricity, and the current of the Scioto River.

"We think the city is always made of hard objects with straight edges, and suddenly here is something that is soft and moving and connecting buildings, flying through the air," Echelman said. "If all of our assumptions are suddenly broken through, what else might this open up in our minds to imagine our world?"

Echelman said she has created works of art across five continents, but Current is her only piece that hangs above an intersection. In addition to the artists, more than 300 food trucks are already serving at the festival, and live music performances are scheduled all weekend, as are plenty of hands-on activities for kids.
