A woman involved in the horrific crash on a King County road near Renton earlier this week paid her respects to the victims at a growing memorial Thursday.
Melissa Cortez told KOMO News she was stopped at a red light on the way to work on Tuesday when she was hit by a van. All four people who were killed in the crash were in the van. She visited a memorial dedicated to the victims on Thursday, March 21. A good Samaritan helped Cortez out of her car, and she suffered injuries to her knee. The 20-year-old said she was starting to get her life together and was proud to buy her car before this tragedy. Her car is being held as evidence, and while she says she does not have much, she plans to help the victims how she can through online fundraisers.
"You just have to wonder how many more people are going to have to get injured or killed before somebody does something," added neighbor David Lee, who said his mother was injured in a crash along 140th years ago.
