Thanks to Johnson and co-owners Dany Garcia and Gerry Cardinale, the XFL — for the third time — was back on Saturday, starting with the season opener between the Vegas Vipers and the Arlington Renegades.
“This was the dream,” Johnson said. “This was our dream years ago, and for it not to come true back then, but come true today in a new capacity, and to create these opportunities for players, it’s great.” Garcia added: “It’s been challenging, as all great things are, but we’re here, our athletes are here, and that ball is going up at 2 o’clock.”but it’s also been the league’s headquarters.
“Everything we wanted to do, the partnership here, the leadership here, just dove in with us feet first. We’re doing a lot of work … and we’re committed to that relationship.”
