Backpacks full of school supplies, inflatables to jump on, Chick-fil-A lunches, and cotton candy were some of the goodies provided.
) - The Fairgrounds in west Mobile was full of joy and excitement as an annual back-to-school bash kicked off. Organized by nonprofit Fostering Together Gulf Coast, it started as a drive-thru during the COVID pandemic.
“We hope that this bash today is a huge blessing to the families who come here,” said Executive Director, Rachel Webb. “So for the foster families, you know, they receive children with — literally with hours’ notice and so they don’t always have time to run out and grab backpacks and school supplies and all the things the kids need immediately.
“We’ve had our little girls since they were basically born and God just led us to foster and so we’ve loved ‘em from that point on,” Wilkinson adds.
