France bypasses vote to push tax revenue bill forward
PARIS - France's government pushed revenue legislation in the 2024 budget bill through the lower house of parliament on Wednesday using special constitutional powers to bypass a lawmakers' vote.
They had sought to add more than 5,300 amendments to the bill, threatening to upend the government's deficit-reduction plans. The government's version of the budget bill included 378 amendments, including a reduction in a tax break some tenants of short-term rental company Airbnb currently benefit from.
