Lara Savage covers Hole in last year's Ghost of Uncle Joe's in Jersey City. This year, she'll be back with friends performing as Dead Sheeran and covering Ed Sheeran songs -- with a twist. The Ghost of Uncle Joe’s -- promoter “Dancing Tony” Susco’s annual Halloween fundraiser for the Historic Jersey City & Harsimus Cemetery -- has a slamming slate of entertainment set for Oct. 19 to 21.
The cemetery predates the Civil War and receives no private or public support, so benefit concerts represent the primary source of revenue for groundskeeping and maintenance. Attendees are asked not to sit on or lean against the gravestones, many of which date back over a hundred years. Blankets and chairs are welcome, but no pets are allowed. Children must be supervised by an adult at all times.
Drummer Christian Kisala of the Bitter Chills enthused that he and his bandmates can’t wait to take on the songs of Elvis Costello at Saturday night’s afterparty at Lo-Fi.
