NBA Summer League: Kuminga, Wiseman show improvements against Oklahoma City Thunder
Summer League is winding down for the Warriors, but plenty of intrigue still surrounds their biggest prospects.
Moses Moody, little banged up, sat out for the penultimate game on Friday that the Warriors lost 90-82 in Las Vegas. But Jonathan Kuminga and James Wiseman played regular minutes against an Oklahoma City Thunder team resting its top prospects, including No. 2 overall pick Chet Holmgren and 2021 first-round pick Josh Giddey.
Much like their showing overall in Summer League, Kuminga and Wiseman’s performances were mixed. But both showed development. Kuminga struggled to find his shot early, going 0-for-6 to start. But he had a strong second half sparked by a few highlight plays, including a furious dunk after spinning past a defender with ease. He ended the first half with a strong cutting dunk off a feed from guard Mac McClung.
Kuminga’s work on his playmaking this summer is paying off, too. He had five assists and finished with 16 points of 5-of-15 from the field, including two 3-pointers.
