Katy church burglar arrested, but the sacred tabernacle is still missing

The unnamed suspect was arrested Friday, the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston announced, but the stolen tabernacle has not yet been found. Church employees reported the tabernacle missing on May 9. The tabernacle is the most sacred item in the Catholic church as it contains the Holy Eucharist, which Catholics believe to be the body of Christ. The large, gilded and ornately carved box is located behind the altar in the church.
"Sadly, the tabernacle... has not yet been recovered, though efforts are ongoing," the statement from the Archdiocese said."In any case, such a theft beyond material price is immeasurably hurtful to the Archdiocese and speaking theologically, is sacrilegious."
