The Annvile Cleona Fire Department has confirmed that one man passed away on Saturday after a silo collapsed in on him while he was inside.

According to the fire department, the initial 911 caller reported that a silo collapsed while a man was inside, working to level to silage. Officials with the fire department reported that further emergency and heavy equipment support was"urgently requested" as the scene unfolded. The rescue mission was then transitioned into a recovery effort when a body was discovered within the silo by a K-9 unit at 1:10 p.m., according to the ACFD."In light of the emotional toll this incident has taken on both emergency responders and the loved ones of the victim, ACFD command staff expends gratitude to all who provided assistance," ACFD stated in a Facebook post.

It happened just before 11:30 a.m. along the 900 block of Mount Pleasant Road in South Annville Township, according to emergency dispatchers. One person was reportedly trapped. No other information has been released from investigators at this point. Tower 1 w/3, Rescue-Engine 1-1 w/4 and Utility 1 w/3 are currently assisting Company 58 with a Silo Collapse. One person is reported trapped. Lancaster and Lebanon County’s Technical rescue teams are also responding.
