Thor’s one glaring error still needs fixing.
Summary SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT Marvel Studios has spent the better part of 10 years fixing the less-than-satisfying elements of Thor: The Dark World, though there is one glaring part of the film that still needs correction. Since its release in 2013, Thor: The Dark World held the undesirable title of being ranked among the worst MCU films.
Two other characters that were improved after Thor 2 were Frigga, Thor's mother, and Loki. Loki's journey in the MCU speaks for itself with the character's now-heroic status recontextualizing his entire character arc in The Dark World. When concerning Frigga, her brief role in Avengers: Endgame did more for her character than anything in Thor 2 did which also makes her stand out in a more positive light.
The only goal Malekith is given in the film is to make the universe darker so that his people can survive. However, the film does not give audiences any reason to care about Malekith or his people which means his plight falls on deaf ears. Unlike the sympathetic, emotional journeys of villains like Killmonger and Namor, Malekith is severely underwritten to the point where he is undoubtedly the most forgettable villain in the entire MCU.
