Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley criticized fans for booing Taylor Swift during the Super Bowl. Barkley argued that Swift's presence at the game was positive and helped to promote the sport internationally.
Star Philadelphia running back Saquon Barkley took time on Wednesday's 'The Howard Stern Show' to defend Taylor Swift against the criticism she received from some Philadelphia fans at the Super Bowl . Swift, the girlfriend of Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce , was shown on the Superdome scoreboard and met with boos from the crowd. Barkley expressed his confusion and disapproval of the fans' reaction. \'They showed her on the Jumbotron. She got booed. I don't get it.
I don't get why she was getting hate there,' Barkley said. He argued that Swift's presence at the Super Bowl, supporting her boyfriend and promoting the game, was a positive thing. 'She's just there supporting her significant other, and she's made the game bigger,' he stated. 'We're all about, 'How can we expand the game and make it more international?' And we're traveling to Brazil. We're traveling to Mexico. Her being a part of this is only helping us. So I don't get the dislike that she's given.' \Barkley's comments come as Philadelphia fans are celebrating their team's Super Bowl victory. The Eagles defeated the Kansas City Chiefs, ending their hopes for a three-peat championship. Barkley himself has been enjoying the post-Super Bowl spotlight, appearing on various talk shows and reflecting on his journey. He also addressed a clip showing New York Giants management expressing disappointment over Barkley's departure to Philadelphia as a free agent. Barkley, who played for the Giants for six seasons, chose to focus on the positive aspects of his time with the organization and his current happiness in Philadelphia. 'That clip doesn't really display my relationship I have with that organization, from top to bottom,' he said. 'They're the people that brought me in. After the game, so many guys and people from the organization reached out to me and were super happy to ... see me hold that Lombardi Trophy up.' Barkley acknowledged his past with the Giants but emphasized his desire to be remembered as an Eagle. 'I look at it as (Hall of Fame member) Marshall Faulk, one of my favorite running backs, he played for the Colts, but he's remembered as a Ram. So now I'm just trying to be remembered as an Eagle.
