Koda Alto is the ace of the Santana High pitching staff.
So there was no question the senior right-hander was going to get the ball to start Wednesday’s first-round Open Division playoff game against Rancho Bernardo.
Rancho Bernardo, which has a team batting average of .318, hit only two balls hard — a fly ball to center by Kevin Takeuchi in the third, and a bullet to right by Theo Kim in the sixth. Both found fielder’s gloves. Santana staked Alto to two runs in the top of the first, and followed with two more in the third and three in the fifth.
