We're less than a month away from being in the path of totality for the solar eclipse. And on that day, Jonesboro schools plan to cancel classes that day.
“During the August 3rd PD sessions they have here at the school district, we first started giving teachers access to all the information we had about engaging lessons about the Solar eclipse," explained JPS STEM Specialist Arthur Jackson. “And we knew that there would likely be an impact on student dismissal that day. We just want to make sure that our students arrive home safely and in a timely fashion," said Jackson.
“In preparation for the eclipse, we have also purchased a special telescope called a sunspotter," continued Jackson."A sun spotter is a way to safely project the eclipse onto the viewing platform, that way we make sure the students can see the shape of the eclipse."
