US factory orders surge in September

Factory orders jumped 2.8% after rising 1.0% in August, the Commerce Department's Census Bureau said on Thursday. Economists polled by Reuters had forecast orders would increase 2.4%. Orders advanced 0.7% on a year-on-year basis in September. Civilian aircraft orders rebounded 92.5%, while motor vehicle, parts and trailers orders climbed 0.6%.
