Lucie started to work in the lively Roppongi district of Tokyo in order to pay off some of her financial debt. She took a job as a hostess at a popular club called Casablanca, where she accepted payment for going on social dates with typically wealthy tourists and businessmen. The job is not considered to require any sexual involvement between the hostess and the customers. However, the hostess job is how Lucie came into contact with the serial rapist and murderer Joji Obara.
