Of 38 Houston-area school districts, Crosby ISD paid the highest average teacher salary in 2020-21, data shows. Average teacher pay of the northeast district was $68,029 that school year. Spring Branch ISD was second with an average pay of $67,922; third was Deer Park ISD at $66,913; fourth was Goose Creek CISD at $66,273 and fifth was La Porte ISD at $66,124.
The district that paid teachers the least was High Island ISD in Galveston County, which offers an average teacher salary of just $52,049. Houston ISD was the second-lowest paying district, with an average salary of $58,381. The statewide average of $59,287 ranks as the fourth-lowest salary among Houston-area districts.
