Toblerone, the mountain-shaped chocolate bar sold in over 100 countries, can no longer be called Swiss chocolate or use its famed Matterhorn symbol, according to Swiss law. Here's what you need to know

“For legal reasons, we have to adapt our packaging to the Swissness legislation and, among other things, remove the Swissness notice on the front of the Toblerone pack,” a Mondelez spokesperson“The Toblerone bars are still and will continue to be produced in Switzerland.” This includes getting rid of the famous Matterhorn image on the chocolate bars’ packaging. The logo depicts the creator’s original idea for Toblerone’s distinctive shape, which is derived from the mountains he grew up around, specifically the Matterhorn.

The company has not yet unveiled the packaging’s new design. However, it plans to pay tribute to its roots with “a modernized and streamlined mountain logo that is consistent with the geometric and triangular aesthetic.”
