Hvert fly har to seter.å sette alle operasjoner med treningsflyet T-38 Talon II på pause etter at et slikt fly styrtet under en treningsflygning over Lamar County i delstaten Alabama 12. mai i år. De to pilotene om bord skjøt seg ut og kom trygt fra hendelsen, opplyser Columbus Air Force Base i Mississippi, flybasen der ulykkesflyet var stasjonert.
Ifølge U.S. Air Force vil pausen i flygningene bidra til at flysikringsmyndighetene blir ferdige med å finne og vurdere bevismateriale etter uhellet, samtidig som sikkerheten til personell og utstyr ivaretas mens etterforskningen pågår. Det er ikke kjent hvor lenge pausen vil vare. Det er heller ikke kjent hva som førte til at flyet styrtet. , ønsker U.S. Air Force å bytte ut de mer enn 50 år gamle T-38-flyene med et nytt fly, T-7 Red Hawk.
