Upper Dauphin Area Elementary and Middle schools will go remote on Friday to adjust to the number of cases.
officials said preliminary analysis from the Pa. Department of Health identifies norovirus, or the stomach flu, as the suspected illness spreading around the schools.
Because of the current level of student and staff illness, and anticipated staffing levels, the UDA elementary and middle schools will be operating remotely on Friday. The high school will continue in-person learning.the district said previouslyThe Pa. Department of Health is still working to confirm that norovirus is the cause of these symptoms.
The district also shared that tests for carbon monoxide and other air quality issues were done, but were negative and ruled out as a cause. Initial water quality tests showed normal levels and confirmation tests are being expedited to rule out contamination, the district said. Concerns about food quality were ruled out because not everyone ate school lunches or the same food/drink on the days in question, the district said.
